Prima di lasciare New York sono d’obbligo una crociera intorno alla Grande Mela e la visita degli osservatori sia dell’Empire State Building che del Rockfeller Center e, anche questa volta, il city pass si rivela di grande utilità.
Al molo 83, si trova una vasta scelta di crociere dalle più rilassanti e tranquille fino ad un folle giro su un catamarano il cui nome “the Beast” fa presupporre cosa accadrà a bordo. Si potrà decidere se optare per la crociera classica con le inevitabili decine di fotografie dello skyline oppure per l’alternativa pazza se vi sentite giovani e non temete di scendere bagnati fradici. In ogni caso, sarà un’esperienza indimenticabile!
Sempre al molo 83 è ancorata la porta-aerei Enterprise, gloria della Marina Statunitense. La visita è oltremodo interessante ed equivale ad un ripasso della storia dalla seconda guerra mondiale, al Vietnam fino ai nostri giorni.Ed ora il più classico degli appuntamenti : l’Empire State Building, sopravvissuto dopo l’utima battaglia di King Kong .Grazie al pass che ci evita
code impressionanti possiamo rapidamente salire all’osservatorio situato all’86° piano A questo punto ogni descrizione suonerebbe retorica. La gioia infantile di riconoscere dall’alto i luoghi visitati, i ponti diventati famigliari e quelli che non si conoscevano e poi, a perdita d’cchio altre città, pianure, colline e il mare aperto dove confluiscono i due fiumi che
abbracciano Manhattan. Non resta che lasciarsi trascinare dall’emozione.
In attesa della versione notturna che sarà possibile ammirare dal Top of the Rock, consiglio di andare a Brooklyn con la metropolitana e di scegliere il taxi per il ritorno: Manhattan al tramonto, vista dal Ponte, rimarrà certamente tra le cose da non dimenticare.
L’osservatorio de Rockfeller Center chiude a mezzanotte ma il nostro pass ci permette di fare le cose con calma. La versione notturna di quanto abbiamo visto dall’Empire è, se possibile, ancora più spettacolare. Se ce la fate a portare con voi un I-pad ed ascolate la Rapsodia in Blu, sarà uno di quei momenti perfetti che fanno sentire in pace con sé stessi e con il mondo intero.
Tornati a terra, una breve passeggiata attraverso il Rockfeller Center, Radio City fino alla vicina Times Square e poi a nanna perchè domani si parte per Boston.
